How weddings have changed within the decades! From a handful to 400-500 invited guests; one-two to six-eight wedding party members; a fairly easy wedding car to expensive and large wedding cars; three course meals in order to six course meals; 1-3 live bands; simple attire to colorful and flamboyant dresses, suits and attire and off-the-cuff to well-prepared wedding speeches.
These are the latter, wedding speeches remain a fundamental part of a marriage and guests do look forward to hearing them, talking about them before, during as wll as after they’ve been delivered.
We have all heard of wedding speeches delivered prior to the meal, during the meal after your food, yet it is of your strong opinion how the wedding speeches ought to be delivered following your meal. I know that for a lot of bridal party speakers i.e. Father with the Bride Speech, Father from the wedding speeches (5 main speakers), they might would rather have the wedding speeches prior to the meal, to allow them to enjoy their meal (many of them are paying for it!). However, it is all about the invited guests and how many (and even the marriage venue staff) would prefer the marriage speeches to be delivered following your meal for several reasons, many of which include:
The invited guests happen to be fed and watered and aren’t listening to wedding speeches on an empty stomach (at least of food, which would be the case before the meal, though weddings today do provide light snacks upon arrival in the wedding venue)
Food may be cooked and served at the agreed time (introduce the marriage speeches prior to the meal along with their is actually a delay of 15 minutes one.5 hours, driving your home staff crazy attempting to keep food freshly cooked, presentable and edible)
The wedding ceremony speeches work as the transition through the meal towards the dancing (broke and alone happening following the meal, folks are expecting ‘a few words’ to be shared regarding the Bride & Groom after which they understand they are able to stand up, move, take a rest, take a stroll, see a bar…)
It can be difficult for moms and dads of the Bride & Groom to speak in public places, as most of them would not be used from it. So, they could, if they so wished, speak prior to / their meal.
There should still be some sort of formal wedding speech(es) as soon as the meal…
