How weddings have changed over the decades! From your handful to 400-500 invited guests; one-two to six-eight wedding party members; a fairly easy wedding car to expensive and enormous wedding cars; three course meals in order to six course meals; one to three live bands; simple attire to colorful and flamboyant dresses, suits and attire and off-the-cuff to well-prepared wedding speeches.
Talking about rogues, wedding speeches remain an important part of a wedding and guests do enjoy hearing them, talking about them before, during and even after they’ve been delivered.
We are all aware of father of the groom speech delivered before the meal, during the meal and after the meal, however it’s of a strong opinion that the wedding speeches ought to be delivered as soon as the meal. I am aware that for many bridal party speakers i.e. Father of the Bride Speech, Father from the Groom Speech, Bride Speech, Groom Speech and Bestman Speech (the 5 main speakers), they’d want to contain the wedding speeches ahead of the meal, so they can enjoy their meal (a number of them are spending money for it!). However, is going on the invited guests and just how a lot of them (and indeed the marriage venue staff) would like the wedding speeches being delivered following the meal for several reasons, many of which include:
The invited guests have been fed and watered and are not playing wedding speeches before eating any breakfast (at least of food, which may be the case prior to meal, though weddings today do provide light snacks upon arrival with the wedding venue)
Food can be cooked and served at the agreed time (introduce wedding ceremony speeches ahead of the meal in addition to their can be quite a delay of Fifteen minutes to 1.5 hours, driving your kitchen staff crazy attempting to keep food freshly cooked, presentable and edible)
The wedding speeches behave as the transition from your meal to the dancing (without a penny happening following the meal, everyone is expecting ‘a few words’ to be shared about the Bride & Groom and they do know they are able to wake up, maneuver around, have a break, take a stroll, go to the bar…)
It can be hard for fogeys in the Bride & Groom to communicate in public places, as most of them couldn’t survive used of computer. So, they might, should they so wished, speak prior to the / their meal.
There should always be some sort of formal wedding speech(es) as soon as the meal…
