Fasting is mandatory on every Muslim and starts everyday in Ramadan 2018 in the break of dawn and ends at sunset. The next exemptions are permitted as Allah does not wish to put you to difficulties :

3.the elderly and chronically ill for whom fasting is impossible;
4.women that are pregnant can postpone the fasting at another time;
5.travelers can also defer their fasting.
